Enhancements to Insider Risk Management with Adaptive Protection in Microsoft Purview

Microsoft 365 is rolling out enhancements to its Insider Risk Management feature, enabling admins to configure risk level expiration settings for adaptive protection. This means that admin can choose to retain or expire risk levels after a user's alert is dismissed or their case is resolved. The public preview of this feature starts in May 2024, with general availability in July 2024. The update allows admins to see a new option in the Risk Levels tab for adaptive protection called "Risk level expiration options". This setting is enabled by default but can be disabled if admins prefer risk levels not to expire even when the user's alert is dismissed or their case is closed. Microsoft Purview's Insider Risk Management feature allows customers to create policies customized based on internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements while maintaining user-level privacy.
