Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention Auto-quarantine sensitive files accessed by unallowed apps (U.S. Government clouds)

Microsoft Purview is set to introduce a feature that will enable admins to eliminate the need for multiple Data Loss Prevention (DLP) alerts and notifications. Through this feature, admins will be able to quarantine files to a configurable location when an automated app or process tries to access a file for which it is not allowed, saving time and resources. This feature is aimed at enhancing security for sensitive files accessed by unallowed apps.

The pilot version of this feature is set to launch in November CY2022, with a general availability release date yet to be announced. It will be available on the web platform and cloud instances including DoD, GCC High, and GCC. Access to this feature is expected to eliminate repetitive DLP alerts, thus resulting in increased workflow efficiency.

Overall, the addition of this feature to Microsoft Purview further cements the platform’s commitment to data security, especially in the US government cloud space.
