The September 2024 Windows security update is now available
The September 2024 security update for supported versions of Windows is now available and should be installed promptly for optimal security. The release notes for this update can be found on the Windows 11 and Windows 10 update history pages, while monthly Windows quality updates are explained in more detail in the linked article. Highlights of the update for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2 include improvements from the August 27, 2024 update KB5041587 and a fix for an issue with Windows Installer. Installation instructions are provided for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2, Windows 11 version 21H2, Windows 10 versions 22H2 and 21H2, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 and Windows Server 2019, Windows 10 LTSB 2016 and Windows Server 2016, Windows 10 LTSB 2015, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2 SP1 and 2008 SP2. Note that the October 2024 security update will be the last security release for certain editions of Windows 11 and Windows 10, after which they will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates.
