Microsoft Edge Mobile: Updated Weather and Wallpaper on the New tab page (Microsoft Entra ID users)

Microsoft Edge Mobile will soon be releasing updates for the New tab page, specifically for Microsoft Entra ID users. The new features include default Wallpaper and Weather, with the Wallpaper feature being enabled by default and a weather icon being added. The rollout is scheduled for early October 2024 for the Wallpaper update and late October 2024 for the Weather update. No action is needed from administrators before the rollout.

For organizations without customized branding, the default value of the com.microsoft.intune.mam.managedbrowser.NewTabPageLayout.Custom key will change to topsites|wallpaper|newsfeed to include the Wallpaper feature. When users open Edge mobile, they will see the new Wallpaper setting enabled on the New tab page, and a weather icon will appear on the top left, allowing them to select the weather details page.

This change will take effect automatically on the specified date without any administrator actions required. Before the rollout, Edge mobile devices in organizations without customized branding will not display Wallpaper, and all Edge mobile users will not have access to Weather on the New tab page.

Overall, these updates aim to improve the user experience for Microsoft Entra ID users on the New tab page in Microsoft Edge for Android and iOS devices, providing added functionality and customization to the user's browsing experience.
