Reminder: Intune moving to support Android 10 and later for user-based management methods in October 2024
If you are an organization that uses Intune for Android device management, it's important to note that Intune will only support Android 10 and later for user-based management methods starting October 2024. Unsupported versions will not receive technical support, bug fixes, or guaranteed feature functionality. This means that organizations should update their helpdesk communications and configure admin settings to warn or block users on older Android versions.
With Intune's October (2410) service release, user-based management methods including Android Enterprise personally-owned work profile, Android Open Source Project (AOSP) user-based, Android Enterprise fully managed, Android Enterprise corporate-owned work profile, app protection policies (APP), and app configuration policies (ACP) for managed apps will only be supported on Android 10 and later.
However, it's important to note that userless methods of Android device management (Dedicated and AOSP userless) and Microsoft Teams certified Android devices will not be impacted by this change. The change will only affect user-based management methods.
If your organization has Android devices running Android 9 or earlier, they need to move to Android 10 or later to continue receiving technical support and guaranteed feature functionality from Intune. While Intune will not prevent enrollment or management of devices on unsupported Android OS versions, functionality is not guaranteed, and use is not recommended.
To prepare for this change, organizations should notify their helpdesk, configure admin settings to warn or block users on older Android versions, and use a device compliance policy to ensure compliance with the new support statement.
Overall, it's important to keep your Android devices updated and ensure that they are running on Android 10 or later to continue receiving support from Intune.
