Intune moving to support Android 10 and later for user-based management methods in October 2024

Intune has recently announced that starting from October 2024, it will support Android 10 and later versions for user-based management methods, which include Android Enterprise personally-owned work profile, corporate-owned work profile and fully managed, Android Open Source Project (AOSP) user-based, Android device administrator, App protection policies (APP), and App configuration policies (ACP) for managed apps. Devices on Android 9 or earlier versions will no longer receive technical support, bug fixes, or meet guaranteed feature functionality standards. Intune will end support for one or two versions each year in October until it only supports the latest four major versions of Android. This change will not impact userless methods of Android device management (Dedicated and AOSP userless) and Microsoft Teams certified Android devices. Administrators must prepare by updating support statements and relevant policies whilst users must ensure that their Android devices are running on Android 10 or later versions to receive support from Intune. For those using devices on unsupported Android OS versions, new and existing features are not guaranteed to work and use is not recommended. Intune will not prevent enrollment or management of devices on unsupported Android OS versions, but functionality is not guaranteed. Helpdesk notification, conditional launch settings, and device compliance policy options are available to warn or block users.
