Plan for Change: Intune moving to support iOS/iPadOS 16 and higher later this year

This post is a heads up for all those using Microsoft Intune to manage their iOS/iPadOS devices that support for iOS/iPadOS 16 or higher will soon be required after the release of iOS/iPadOS 18. Users should check the Intune reporting to identify affected devices and use Intune controls to manage OS versions. This change is expected later this year as per Microsoft's MC803005. Organizations managing iOS/iPadOS devices that might not be able to upgrade to the minimum supported version (iOS 16/iPadOS 16) should note that Microsoft 365 mobile apps are supported on iOS 16/iPadOS 16 and higher. Apple User Enrollment with Company Portal support is going to end and Userless iOS and iPadOS devices enrolled through Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) have a nuanced support statement due to their shared usage. The minimum supported OS version will change to iOS 16/iPadOS 16 while the allowed OS version will change to iOS 13/iPadOS 13 and later. Users should manage the supported OS version in their organizations using Microsoft Intune controls for both MDM and APP.

For more information on how this change will affect you and instructions on how to check in the Microsoft Intune admin center for affected devices and users, refer to the related information section of the post. Plan for Change: Intune moving to support iOS/iPadOS 16 and higher later this year. .
