External recipients MailTip offline behavior update for Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android
Microsoft's update to Outlook for iOS and Android will now allow external recipient warnings to work without an internet connection by caching MailTip service results. This feature will be available from mid-August to late September 2024. Organizations can manage this feature by configuring a list of internal domains. Users should be informed of these changes. This development expands Outlook's capabilities to give external recipient warnings. If the MailTip service is unreachable, cached results can be used to make determinations, such as when a user's device is offline. An optional administrative setting allows organizations to configure a list of internal domains to inform the external recipient warning when the MailTip service is not reachable. Outlook compares the sending account's domain to each recipient's domain if cached results and internal domain lists are not available. The feature update is available by default. To prepare, configure the option to provide a list of external domains for external recipient MailTip warnings and inform users of the change.
