Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Advanced Fingerprinting
The latest update to the Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention service is good news for admins looking to protect sensitive data. With Advanced Fingerprinting, rules can be created using sensitive information types (SITs) that are generated based on document fingerprinting, allowing admins to better protect potentially sensitive data. Previously limited to certain workloads, this update extends support to SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Endpoint, and enables admins to adjust thresholds when creating Fingerprint SITs.
In addition, admins can also detect when a portion of a sensitive document is exposed using partial matching support across various compliance solutions. This latest update reveals that the general availability release is set for September CY2023, providing advance notice for organizations to evaluate the feature and ensure compliance. This update is definitely worth keeping an eye on for businesses looking to stay ahead of the curve in data protection.
