Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (Defender for Office 365): Monitor action in Safe attachments policy will retire

Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (Defender for Office 365) has announced that the 'Monitor' action in their Safe attachments policy will be retired starting February 2025 and ending by late May 2025, thus urging users to review and adjust their Safe attachments policies accordingly. The Safe attachments policy works to prevent malicious content in emails by analyzing attachment content and behavior in a sandbox environment. The policy currently includes four actions; Off, Monitor, Block, and Dynamic delivery. The Monitor action will be retired, and organizations with such policies will be automatically switched to Block. The retirement will also include Redirect Messages with Detected Attachments. Post-retirement, the only actionable options provided will be Off, Block, and Dynamic delivery. Users are advised to review their Safe attachments policies and act accordingly before the Monitor action is retired.
