New Microsoft Defender Antivirus services on Windows Devices

Microsoft is launching two new services for Microsoft Defender Antivirus on Windows 10 and Windows 11: the Microsoft Defender Core service and the Microsoft Data Loss Prevention service. The Core service will help improve the stability and performance of Defender Antivirus, while the DLP service will allow for easier troubleshooting of endpoint DLP issues. The preview will be available in November 2023, with a standard rollout starting in mid-January 2024 and ending in early February 2024.

If you want to prepare for these updates, make sure to update the Platform Update to version 4.18.23110.0 or later and allow access to certain URLs. Additionally, if you use an Application Control application or a third-party AV or EDR, add the Microsoft Defender Core and Data Loss Prevention services to the allowed list.
