Microsoft 365 admin center: Business Chat usage in Microsoft 365 Copilot usage report

The Microsoft 365 admin center is set to roll out an update to the Microsoft 365 Copilot usage report, which will track total usage of Business Chat and categorize it as Business Chat (work) and Business Chat (web). While Business Chat (web) usage is currently limited to Microsoft Edge and Microsoft 365 App, more apps will be added over time. Previously, the Business Chat (work) metric included usage in Edge and Microsoft 365 App, but this update will separate them in the adoption by app chart. In addition, the last activity dates for Business Chat (web), Edge, and Microsoft 365 App have been added in the user level table. This new usage report will provide administrators with a better understanding of overall usage of Business Chat, allowing for split usage between Business Chat (web) and Business Chat (work), and tracking Business Chat usage in Edge and Microsoft 365 App. This update will be available by default and is expected to be completed by late December 2024. Please note that Business Chat (work) usage in aggregated tenant exports will be moved to a new file due to this update, so users may need to update the source exported file accordingly.
