Microsoft 365 admin center: New usage reports for Microsoft Copilot with enterprise data protection

The Microsoft 365 admin center is introducing a new Microsoft Copilot usage report for enterprises that will provide insights into active usage and enterprise data protection. The report will include user activity metrics and trends, focusing on total active users, active users of per app, and average daily active users. As of writing, this report is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 377676, and it will be available by default, with no required admin action. The new report is not for Microsoft 365 Copilot usage and will only be limited to Copilot usage in the Microsoft 365 App and Microsoft Edge by users with a Microsoft 365 license. It will be available by mid-December 2024.
This usage report will be instrumental in providing admins with direct insights into how Microsoft Copilot (enterprise data protection) is being used in their organization. They can view usage insights as totals and observe trends for the last 7, 30, 90, or 180 days. The report will also show the last activity date per user (anonymized by default). This gives admins the ability to monitor usage patterns and provide more adequate assistance based on any observed trends. The rollout of this feature is automated, so there is no need for any admin action before the specified date.
Overall, this report offers valuable insights to help admins understand how their organization is using Microsoft Copilot (enterprise data protection) and provide insights on how they can optimize their usage further.
