Microsoft Teams: Start/stop recording on Teams Rooms on Windows
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows is introducing a new feature that allows users to directly start or stop recording meetings from their Teams Rooms devices. To access this feature, users will require Teams Rooms Pro license and Teams Rooms on Windows app version 5.2. Starting mid-October 2024, the feature will be rolled out for different regions with the default setting on, which can be configured by admins. With this new update, users can conveniently start/stop recording meetings in any meeting where a participant belongs to the same tenant as the organizer, including scheduled meetings, ad-hoc meetings, channel meetings (only for channel members), and Teams Cast sessions. Admins can enable/disable this feature for users with the Teams meeting recording policy. Prior to this update, the user needed to be present on a companion device to initiate a meeting recording.
This new update for recording meetings on Teams Rooms is a significant improvement for users as they can now directly start and stop meeting recordings from their Teams Rooms devices, making the process simpler and more efficient. This update will be available soon, and it's evident that Microsoft is continuously striving to make meetings more productive and effective on the Teams platform.
