Microsoft Teams: Access work, school, and personal accounts in a single desktop app

Microsoft Teams is getting a new update that will allow users to access any type of Teams account- personal, work or school- on the same desktop app. Starting from April 2024, the update will enable users to add and access additional accounts in the upper right corner of Teams by selecting their profile picture. Users with Teams free on their systems may observe changes in their Teams taskbar, as it will attempt to replace their taskbar pin. Admins can control their users' sign-in capabilities with group policies, and should review their Teams sign-in restriction policies for their devices to ensure a smooth update to the new Teams.
The changes also offer improvements in how one joins meetings, providing users with the option to view or change their identity right on the meeting pre-join screen. These updates follow all meeting privacy and security policies. Personal account users can connect and collaborate with others through Communities in Teams by adding a Microsoft account (MSA).
This new update will be rolled out in stages, with the early roll out starting in April 2024 and targeted to be completed by mid-April 2024. The wider rollout is expected to be completed by late June 2024.
This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 383006. If your organization does not support Mac desktops, this message is not applicable.
