Microsoft 365 admin center: Self-service purchase notifications
Starting from July 2024, Microsoft 365 admins will be notified of self-service purchases made by users, through the Microsoft 365 admin center. This feature, which is on by default, will provide admins with awareness and actionable insights. Admins will be able to manage or cancel subscriptions as needed. The rollout will be completed by late August 2024. No admin action is needed before the rollout. Prior to this change, administrators had no insight into self-service purchases made by users. Users in the organization can purchase and manage subscriptions through self-service purchases, and global admins and billing admins will receive notifications when this occurs. Admins will have options to maintain, turn off, take over, or cancel subscriptions. Microsoft 365 admins are automatically given access to this feature, and they should familiarize themselves with the self-service purchase FAQ and policy to ensure a smooth experience for users. The rollout will happen automatically by the specified date, and users may need to be notified of this change.
