Microsoft 365 admin center: User admin and License admin roles enabled to manage self-service license requests

Microsoft is expanding the role of User and License administrators to handle self-service license requests in the Microsoft 365 admin center starting from mid-July 2024 until late July 2024. This role was previously limited to Global administrators. This move aligns with other Microsoft Entra portals and ensures consistency in assigning licenses. However, there will be no change to the role permissions. License and User administrators should familiarize themselves with the license request process to prepare for these changes. After the rollout is complete, License administrators and User administrators will be able to handle self-service license requests in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
For more information, resources are available including About admin roles in the Microsoft 365 admin center on Microsoft 365 admin, and the licensing process guide on Manage self-service license requests in the Microsoft 365 admin.
