Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management setup guide updates

Microsoft is rolling out an update to the Advanced Deployment Guides & Assistance page to help manage data in your tenant. The deployment tasks will be differentiated based on Office 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E3, Office 365 E5, and Microsoft 365 E5 licenses. The update provides clarity on functionalities when managing an organization's content, records, and governance strategies. It also provides steps to manually or automatically apply governance to emails, files, messages, and content based on the settings chosen. Additionally, admins can upload file plans for current retention labels used in the organization, create an adaptive scope to identify locations where labels are applied, and manage mailbox content more proactively with the relocation of the Exchange (Legacy) portal. If you have bookmarked sections of the Advanced Deployment Guides & Assistance page, those links will redirect to the new Deployment Guides section during the rollout.

This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 117373 and will begin rolling out in mid-March under the Standard Release. To prepare for the changes, you may need to make IT staff in your organization aware of the new navigation, but no action is required for the changes on setup.microsoft.com.
