Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows: New native Microsoft-defined camera controls in camera settings
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows is set to receive a new feature in its camera settings menu - native camera controls for Active Speaker Framing, Group Framing, and Edge Composed IntelliFrame. Cameras that implement these Microsoft-defined controls will display in-meeting controls for these features in the camera settings pop-up menu. The update is expected to be rolled out by mid-September 2024, with no admin action required. However, setting the default behaviour for cameras with these controls will not be supported as part of this initial release, although support is expected to be provided at a later date. Users are advised to update any supporting documentation and inform their users about this new capability. This announcement is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 409537.
For General Availability (Worldwide, GCC), the rollout will begin mid-September 2024 and complete by late September 2024. Meanwhile, for General Availability (GCC High, DoD), the rollout will begin early October 2024 and complete by early November 2024. There are no related admin controls for this feature as part of this release.
