Microsoft Teams is set to introduce a simplified design for personal apps on desktop and web clients. This new design entails moving the 'About' tab and utility actions to a three-dot menu at the top of the screen. This is aimed at reducing visual clutter and overall complexity for users. The change, associated with Roadmap ID 396166, will roll out in mid-July 2024 and is expected to be completed by late July 2024.
This update only applies to new Teams for Desktop, Web, and Mac and will not impact Teams iOS or Android. Users of new Teams for Desktop, Web, and Mac will have the new design enabled by default. No admin action is required before the rollout as it happens automatically at the specified dates. Before the rollout, the top of the screen for personal apps in Teams was cluttered with the About tab and other utility actions. After the rollout, some applications will no longer have any tabs in the header bar, further reducing the complexity and visual clutter.
If you're a Teams user or admin, you may want to notify your users of this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate. The post Microsoft Teams: Simplifying the personal app design at the top of the screen originally appeared on M365 Admin.
