Teams Rooms on Android and Teams Phones impacted by retirement of legacy notifications infrastructure: UPGRADE REQUIRED!
Microsoft Teams is upgrading its notification infrastructure for chat messaging, which means Teams Rooms on Android and Teams Phones will retire their legacy notification infrastructure. As a result, specific app updates will be required before July 31, 2024, to avoid disruption. Teams Rooms on Windows or Surface Hub devices, as well as Teams Panels, are not affected by this change.
The update requires Teams rooms application version 1449/1.0.96.2024020802 or greater for Teams Rooms on Android devices and Teams phone application version 1449/1.0.94.2024011003 or greater for Teams Phone devices. Automatic updates are available to ensure users have the latest capabilities, performance, and security enhancements, and service reliability. However, users will need to stay on the most current version of the Teams Rooms application as Microsoft Teams devices are governed by the Modern Lifecycle Policy.
The retiring CNS service API impacts incoming call notifications, including those for one-on-one calls and group calls and proximity-based meeting join scenarios from Teams Rooms on Android. Teams phone devices will be impacted by the retirement of incoming calls, voicemail, and missed call notifications. Updates to app versions greater than 1449/1.0.96.2024020802 for Teams Rooms on Android and 1449/1.0.94.2024011003 for Teams Phone devices will use the new and improved notification service APIs, not impacted by the upgrade.
To avoid disruptions, users must complete these updates before July 31, 2024.
