Microsoft Copilot extending to Teams and Outlook
Microsoft Copilot, an AI-powered tool that assists developers in writing code by suggesting lines of code based on a combination of the context of the code being written, existing code written by the user, and code snippets from public resources, is now extending its availability to Teams and Outlook. Starting mid-November, users with an Entra account will be able to access Microsoft Copilot pinned in Teams and Outlook, allowing them to directly access the app from the left rail. However, Copilot will not be pinned by default, and admins will have the option to control Copilot's pinning using the same Copilot pinning control shared previously to pin Copilot in the Microsoft 365 app. The rollout is expected to be complete by the end of December. Admins can also block the Copilot app from appearing in Outlook and the Microsoft 365 app using Microsoft 365 Admin Center and in Teams using Teams Admin Center. It is important to note that existing controls to remove access to Copilot will still be respected as the Copilot app rolls out in Outlook and Teams.
Overall, this extension will allow developers more ease of access in utilizing the assistive and innovative technology of Microsoft Copilot and enable them to write code efficiently and more accurately.
