The Office app is becoming the Microsoft 365 app

The Office app is becoming the Microsoft 365 app

In a recent announcement made at the Microsoft Ignite event on October 12, 2022, it was disclosed that the Office app is being rebranded to become the Microsoft 365 app for Windows, iOS, Android, and web (office.com). This will include a new icon, styling, and features.

The rollout of changes will be phased, with the Office web app on Office.com starting in November 2022. Users will be able to experience the new Microsoft 365 app through the Microsoft365.com or Office.com platforms. In mid-2023, Office.com will begin redirecting automatically to Microsoft365.com.

Users will start seeing in-product messaging about the change in November 2022 on their Office apps for windows and mobile, and the apps will update to become the Microsoft 365 app by January 2023. The Microsoft 365 app comes equipped with its distinctive Microsoft 365 icon on the device home screens of users.

As part of productivity enhancement, the Microsoft 365 app includes a new "Feed" feature that utilizes Microsoft Graph's intelligence to provide users with relevant content based on their work and the person they work with. It is essential to note that the new Microsoft 365 app represents an evolution of the current Office application with some new features.

Administrators are encouraged to communicate the upcoming changes to the users in their organization and let them know that the Office app is becoming the Microsoft 365 app. They should also be aware that the web app will be accessed at a new URL (www.microsoft365.com), although the experience can still be used at the existing URL (www.office.com) for a limited time.
