Plan for Change: Ending support for Windows 8.1
Microsoft has announced that it will end support for Windows 8.1 devices on October 21, 2022. Windows 8.1 will reach end-of-extended-support in January 2023. Microsoft recommends upgrading to a supported version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 to avoid issues with service or support that is no longer available. Though there will be no immediate impact on existing devices and policies, you will not be able to enroll new devices running on Windows 8.1. Organizations are advised to upgrade their existing Windows 8.1 devices to a supported version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 to ensure continuity of service. You can determine which devices are running on Windows 8.1 in the Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center by filtering devices by OS in the Windows Devices section.
