Microsoft Teams is rolling out an update to its developer tools that will allow for content sharing from Teams apps to chats, channels, and meetings. This update, set to release in early June 2024, will combine Share-in-Meeting controls with Share to Teams dialog, introduce the Present Now feature, and enhance future meeting content sharing without requiring any admin action. The updated Share-in-Meeting control will enable users to share content not just to an ongoing or ad-hoc Teams meeting but also to one scheduled for the future. Developers can opt into these new features. The rollout will apply to Teams for Windows, the web, and Mac. This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 394670.
With these enhancements, developers will gain the ability to access a list of shared content, display it, and notify meeting participants through the meeting chat. Additionally, when a meeting begins, the app side panel will open automatically for the user who shared the content.
This update to Microsoft Teams developer tools streamlines the sharing of content, making it more efficient for users and therefore creating a more seamless user experience.
