Unified RBAC provides centralized role-based administration controls for Microsoft Defender for Office 365

Unified RBAC provides centralized role-based administration controls for Microsoft Defender for Office 365

If your organization relies on Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and Exchange Online, then you may be interested in the new unified role-based access control system available through Microsoft Defender XDR. This system provides centralized administration controls for managing permissions across all Defender solutions.

Implementing this system is entirely optional, and your current permissions and roles will not be impacted by the new service plan. If you do opt in, however, you will need to configure new URBAC roles specific to your organization and use them to replace your existing RBAC roles. The process of configuring and setting up roles is straightforward and can be done easily with the help of the "Import Roles Wizard."

In summary, the new unified role-based access control system can help your organization simplify its administration controls and achieve a more centralized, streamlined approach to managing Defender permissions. To learn more about how to configure and use URBAC, refer to the Microsoft 365 Defender Unified role-based access control (RBAC) resource.
