Product-wide disablement of email to private message feature in Viva Engage (Yammer)

Viva Engage (Yammer) users take note: after November 13, 2023, creating private messages through email will no longer be supported. While email posting to communities will still be possible, creating private messages by emailing user alias+network [email protected] will no longer work. Instead, users will need to utilize the Engage app or browser experience to create private messages. If users do try to create a private message via email after the feature is disabled, they'll receive a notification explaining the feature is no longer available. Despite this change, private messages will still generate email notifications, and users can still reply and react to them in Outlook. This change is not expected to have a significant impact, and admins need only review internal help or guidance in preparation.

However, if your organization utilizes private messages heavily, the only users impacted will be those that create private message threads via email. Communities will not be impacted, and users can still start community threads via the community email address. It's important to note that if you're using this feature as part of a custom integration to connect an application with Viva Engage, you will need to investigate alternatives.
