Copilot agents in SharePoint rolling to Targeted Release
SharePoint is introducing Copilot agents, a new feature for M365 Copilot license holders. This feature allows users to create and interact with Copilot agents scoped to their site. The initial rollout of Copilot agents will commence in late October 2024 for Targeted Release and late November 2024 for General Availability. Users with create and edit permissions on their site or document library will be able to create and use Copilot agents. They can also share a link to the agent with other users who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and chat with it. However, the release does not include interacting with the Copilot agent in a Teams chat or meeting chat, Copilot Studio for advanced customizations, or site owner abilities to approve agents and set a default agent for a specific site. These additional capabilities will be released later this year. To learn more about the capabilities, users can refer to the documentation provided in the post.
The rollout will affect organizations with M365 Copilot licenses who will be able to use the Copilot agents feature in SharePoint. The post serves as an announcement and also provides users with the necessary documentation to prepare for the upcoming changes.
