Out-of-band updates to address Azure Synapse SQL issue caused by Windows updates
Microsoft has issued an out-of-band update to resolve an issue with Azure Synapse SQL Serverless Pool databases entering a "Recovery pending" state. This problem was observed after the installation of the June 2024 Windows security update on Windows Server 2022, Windows Server version 23H2, and Azure Stack HCI versions 23H2 and 22H2. The out-of-band updates have been released for Windows Server 2022 and Azure Stack HCI version 22H2 and are now available on the Microsoft Update Catalog. They are cumulative updates and supersedes all previous updates for the affected versions. Devices will require a restart after installation of the OOB updates. If you have not applied the June 2024 Windows security update, it is recommended you apply this OOB update instead.
