[REMINDER] New details on IE11 desktop application permanent disablement scheduled for February 14, 2023

This announcement is a reminder that Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) desktop application is set to be permanently disabled on certain versions of Windows 10 devices effective February 14, 2023, with the help of a Microsoft Edge update and not a Windows update as previously stated. This update will lead to the redirection of all devices that have not been redirected from IE11 to Microsoft Edge. The redirection from IE11 to Microsoft Edge will occur simultaneously across all devices within an organization, and users will not be able to reverse this change. Therefore, organizations still relying on IE11 must take steps to complete their transition before the deadline to prevent business disruption on a large scale.

The permanent disablement of IE11 will occur through a Microsoft Edge update scheduled for February 14, 2023, and will be included in all future Microsoft Edge updates, similar to Windows updates. Users will see a dialogue box when they are transitioned to Microsoft Edge, and all their browsing data will be automatically transferred to Microsoft Edge from IE11. IE11 visual references such as icons on the Start Menu and taskbar will be removed by the June 2023 Windows security update and the non-security preview "C" release on certain Windows 10 versions, scheduled for May 23, 2023.

It is important to note that IE11 has been out of support since June 15, 2022, and the change to use a Microsoft Edge update to disable IE11 is intended to provide a better user experience and help organizations transition their last remaining IE11 users to Microsoft Edge. This transition will impact all devices within an organization uniformly.
