Quarantine Admin Role Required for Exchange Admins for Quarantine Operations

Microsoft has announced that from early February 2023, Exchange Administrators who are not Quarantine Administrators or Security Administrators or Global Administrators in the security portal will not be able to execute Quarantine operations. Tenant Exchange Administrators who go to the Quarantine Security Portal will need to have a Quarantine Administrator role to perform such operations. To ensure a smooth transition, Microsoft will provision a Quarantine Admin role for all Exchange Administrators who have performed Quarantine operations on the security portal in the past. They will be able to execute Quarantine operations successfully till late January 2023. However, with this change, Exchange Administrators will now have to be assigned the Quarantine Administrator role to perform Quarantine operations. To prepare for this change, Admins should update their organization roles and relevant training documentation.
