Microsoft Purview – General availability of Power Automate integration with records management

Microsoft Purview has achieved a significant milestone by integrating Records Management with Power Automate, providing a greater degree of flexibility to its users. This integration includes four new actions, namely 'Apply a retention label on the item', 'Relabel an item at the end of retention', 'Delete an item at the end of retention', and 'Trigger a new instance of the flow if an item can't be located'. These actions will be available in Microsoft 365 Compliance connector to unlock more scenarios for this integration. By creating retention labels, compliance administrators will now be able to select a Power Automate flow to run when an item reaches the end of its retention period in SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange, thus establishing greater command over workflow management.
This feature is currently available for public preview and will be Generally Available beginning mid-October 2023. This new capability will not affect any pre-existing retention labels and there are no changes to the retention settings in the retention label creation wizard. This integration provides Records Management administrators flexibility to execute custom workflows, supervise retention progress, and better manage the lifecycle of their records.
If you are a Microsoft Purview user, there is nothing you need to do to receive this feature. However, it is recommended that Records Management administrators evaluate this new capability and update any training or reference material to reflect the change.
