Microsoft Outlook: Replace quick compose pop-up with inline appointment creation in new Outlook for Windows and web
Microsoft is updating Outlook with a new feature that replaces the quick compose pop-up with inline appointment creation on the calendar. This change will be effective from September 2024 for Targeted Release and October 2024 for General Availability, with completion by November 2024. The new Outlook for Windows and web will allow the creation of appointments by typing directly in an empty time slot on the calendar grid, instead of displaying the quick compose pop-up by single-clicking. There will be no change to the double-click behavior, which will still open the full compose form. This update, associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 406948, comes with no admin action required. Users should be informed about this change, with relevant documentation updated.
