SharePoint: Introducing custom fonts
Microsoft SharePoint has introduced the ability to use custom fonts, through the SharePoint Brand Center, enabling organizations to express their brand creatively on sites and pages. With this feature, brand managers can upload and manage fonts in the Brand Center, create custom font packages for SharePoint, and Viva Connections Desktop experiences. The feature is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 375490 and includes new web parts supporting custom fonts that will be rolled out in phases including Public Preview, Targeted Release, and General Availability. The rollout will span from April to October 2024 and will introduce new web parts with custom font support such as countdown timer, events, highlighted content, and others. The feature is available by default with no admin action required and includes default Microsoft font packages. Once the SharePoint Brand Center has been enabled in an organization, custom fonts can be used within SharePoint and Viva Connections. Brand managers who are site owners of the Brand center site, can upload and manage organization fonts in the Brand fonts library. They can then create custom font packages to apply in the Change the Look experience for their organization's sites and pages.
Overall, this feature update is a valuable addition to Microsoft SharePoint's capabilities, allowing for greater brand expression and customization within the platform. The rollout phases ensure that users can gradually adapt to this new feature while still utilizing the default Microsoft font packages, and later transition to using custom fonts at their own pace.
