Microsoft Teams: Ultrasound Howling Detection
Microsoft Teams has introduced an ultrasound howling detection feature to tackle the issue of feedback loops that occur when multiple people join a meeting in the same room, causing echo that quickly escalates into howling. If multiple users on laptops join from the same location, the platform will detect another Teams Device in the vicinity and automatically mute the mic and speakers of the person who joins after someone who has already joined with audio. This new feature will be available on desktop and cloud platforms and will be released worldwide by March CY2023.
With this new feature, Microsoft Teams aims to improve the audio quality of meetings and enhance the user experience by preventing howling and echo issues that often lead to confusion and frustration during meetings. This step will be especially helpful for remote teams and virtual meetings where participants join the call from various locations and devices.
