Outlook for the web – End user Reporting integrated with Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (Exchange Online Protection)

Outlook for the web – End user Reporting integrated with Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (Exchange Online Protection)

In late November 2022, new built-in report buttons will be added to Outlook on the web (OWA) integrating with Microsoft Defender for Office 365. These buttons allow users to report emails as phishing, junk, or not junk and admins can control their appearance and customize where messages get reported to. It's important to note that other Outlook clients such as Mac, Windows 32, and mobile clients will remain unaffected by this change. Furthermore, if the reporting feature is turned off in the User Reported settings page of the Microsoft 365 Defender portal or a third-party add-in is being used, the report buttons in OWA won't be visible. The Microsoft reporting add-in will still be supported alongside the built-in reporting buttons, but Microsoft aims to have a consistent button reporting experience across all Outlook clients in the future. The built-in reporting buttons in OWA won't include customizable pre and post-reporting pop-ups like the Microsoft reporting add-in currently does, but Microsoft plans to include these pop-ups in 2023. This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 101515 and will not affect other Outlook clients such as Mac, Windows 32, and mobile clients.
