Restricted access to Microsoft Teams data via Exchange Web Services
If your organization leverages Exchange Web Services (EWS) to access Teams message data, you'll want to pay attention to this update from Microsoft. Starting January 31st, 2023, Microsoft will begin to restrict access via EWS to Teams message data. To continue to export Teams messages, you can use the Microsoft Graph Teams Export API. This API provides fully supported access to export 1:1, group chat, meeting chats, and channel messages from Microsoft Teams.
It's worth noting that if your organization has not developed an application using EWS, you don't need to take any action. However, if your organization relies on EWS to extract Teams message data, you'll need to make the shift to Teams Export APIs before January 31st, 2023. Refer to the Teams Export API for assistance in extracting the necessary data.
This change will only impact access to Microsoft Teams data via EWS and will not affect access to other Microsoft services. So make sure to plan ahead to ensure a smooth transition and avoid disruption to your workflow.
