Exchange Transport Rules (ETRs) stopping support for DLP scenarios

Microsoft has announced that Exchange Transport Rules (ETRs) will no longer support data loss prevention (DLP) scenarios in mail flow rules. The retirement will take effect mid-November 2023. Microsoft recommends that customers use Microsoft Purview Unified DLP instead, which integrates DLP protection across various platforms including SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams chats, etc. It also provides access to advanced classification capabilities like EDM, ML, and more along with rich alerts and incident management features. Customers who've already migrated to Unified DLP are advised to delete any affected mail flow rules; otherwise, they should migrate and delete any existing, affected mail flow rules before mid-November. To prepare for the change, organizations are advised to use the Get-TransportRule cmdlet to check for existing mail flow rules using DLP actions or predicates.
