Microsoft Viva: Enhanced capabilities for spotlight in Viva Connections!

Microsoft is providing operators with more control over content displayed in the spotlight section of Viva Connections, setting aside a total of 11 slots for content display. Currently, spotlight features pinned items and dynamic SharePoint news posts, but the enhanced update allows for a greater variety of content to be shared in the section. Pinned items will be displayed first, followed by SharePoint news posts, and the remaining slots will dynamically populate with news content. This enhancement will only affect the desktop experience of Viva Connections and will seamlessly blend prioritized content with dynamic news updates to provide a rich and engaging experience for users. The update will roll out beginning mid-May 2024 and should be completed by late May 2024. Operators will be able to use the new Settings button in the spotlight section to customize the component, pin content, reorder pinned items, and select SharePoint sites as news sources. Preparing for this update involves generating news and selecting content sources for spotlight.
