Microsoft Outlook: Hide favorites in the New Outlook for Windows and web
Microsoft Outlook now offers the ability to hide the favorites section, thus, allowing more space in the folder pane. This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 167071. Users can adjust the visibility of this section by navigating to the ‘View’ tab > ‘Layout’ > ‘Folder Pane’ > ‘Favorites.’ By selecting ‘Show’ or ‘Hide,’ the favorites section will be either displayed or hidden. Alternatively, right-clicking on the favorites section and selecting ‘Hide favorites’ will conceal the entire section. When adding a Folder, Category, or Person to the favorites, the section will automatically reappear. This update started rolling out in late October 2023 and is expected to be completed by late February 2024.
As a user, there is no action needed to prepare for this change. However, notifying relevant users about this update and updating any related documentation can be considered.
