OneNote to Block Embedded Files that Have Dangerous Extensions

OneNote to Block Embedded Files that Have Dangerous Extensions

Microsoft's OneNote is set to get a new feature to prevent users from opening embedded files with dangerous extensions, aligning the software with currently blocked extensions on Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The new feature will show users a dialog box notifying them that their administrator has blocked the embedded file. Users who need to access the blocked file may save it to their local device and open it from there if they trust the sender. The feature will roll out in version 2304 in Current Channel (Preview) from late April to late May 2023 and will only affect OneNote for Microsoft 365 on Windows devices. Relevant training documents should be updated as part of the preparation process for this change.
