The new Microsoft Teams on the web Progressive Web App (PWA) is available now on Windows and macOS

The Microsoft Teams on the web has now been made available as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for Windows and macOS on Edge and Chrome, with features like pinning to taskbar and auto-start on login. Users can install it directly from the browser's address bar, without the need for admins to undertake any special preparation, although they may still inform users and update documentation. Besides Microsoft Teams on the web's existing features, the Teams PWA also comes with web app features like creating desktop shortcuts, pinning to Start, pinning to taskbar, and auto-starting on device login. This move brings Windows and macOS at par with Linux's existing PWA experience for new Teams on the web. Users in organizations can learn more about PWA installation. Admins can apply policies through WebAppInstallForceList and WebAppSettings to install and manage PWAs for web users. Essentially, this change enables web users in your organization to install the Teams PWA directly from their browser's address bar and launch Teams on the web as a standalone app if need be.

To make the most of this update, you may want to communicate it to your users and update any related documentation as required. However, no specific preparation is required from admins.
