Custom Backgrounds for Announcement Posts in Channels

Microsoft Teams is set to enhance its Announcement post feature by introducing Custom Backgrounds, powered by Microsoft Designer’s generative AI. With the new feature, Teams Premium users can use DALL-E, a text to image generator, to create custom backgrounds for their announcement posts. This feature will be available for users of Microsoft Teams Desktop and Web in Channels 2.0, but only in English - US markets. Mobile devices will only support the consumption of custom backgrounds, as is the current announcement behavior. The feature is currently disabled for EDU tenants while the team implements a policy setting.

Previously, Teams users faced difficulties in finding the right picture or an image that worked correctly with banner sizing. With the generative AI power of Microsoft Designer, users can create rich, engaging backgrounds for their announcement posts in just a few clicks. Users can either create an image from a description or upload an image of their choice. The Designer Mini Dialog is the platform where users can create backgrounds.

This update is set to roll out in November 2023 for targeted releases and late November for standard releases.
