Microsoft SharePoint: Filter search results by “Messages”

In order to enhance search capabilities and improve the user experience, Microsoft SharePoint will soon incorporate the Messages search vertical, which is already available at microsoft365.com. Search verticals are tabs that show search results categorized by specific type or source; for instance, the Files vertical showcases classified files, making it easy for users to locate documents. The rollout will begin early January 2025, and will be completed by mid-January 2025 across the world, GCC, GCC High and DoD. The feature will be enabled by default, but if the Messages search vertical for microsoft365.com has been disabled, it will also be disabled for SharePoint. No admin action is required prior to the rollout, but it is recommended to review current configurations to gauge the impact on the organization, update any relevant documentation and notify users of the change.
