New innovations available for Windows 11, version 22H2
Microsoft has announced new accessibility, security, and user experience features for Windows 11, version 22H2. Some of the standout additions include Copilot in Windows (preview), Windows 365 Boot, Windows 365 Switch, enhanced phishing protection, support for passkeys instead of passwords for website and application sign-ins, and “never combined” mode for taskbar items. Most of these features will be enabled by default in the October 2023 non-security preview release for all editions of Windows 11, version 22H2. However, Copilot in Windows (with Bing Chat Enterprise) will be made available in North America and parts of South America and Asia in a preview release. Additional markets are expected to be added over time.
To prepare for these forthcoming features, Microsoft recommends using a policy to enable optional updates, so that managed devices can receive the latest features right away. Users can stay informed about the rollout and known issues by checking the Windows Experience Blog, release notes, and the Microsoft 365 admin center for Windows release health.
