Exchange Online: New Groups experience default update in Outlook on the web and new Outlook for windows
In an effort to streamline the Groups experience for users of Microsoft 365, Outlook is implementing a new default Groups experience. This new experience includes a centralized destination for group activities, recommended actions, and recent files. Starting in early October 2024, the new Groups experience will become the default in both Microsoft Outlook on the web and new Outlook for Windows. By the end of November 2024, rollout completion is expected.
Users will now access Groups via the navigation bar, and the old experience will be unavailable. To access the new Groups experience, users can go to the navigation bar and select the Groups icon below the People icon or click on the Groups button below the primary mailbox. Management of Groups in the people module will be deprecated, but users can continue to complete Groups management tasks in the new Groups experience. Users who wish to continue accessing Groups in Primary Mailbox can do so by favoriting a group.
It is recommended that organizations update documentation and notify users of the coming change, as Group users will not have access to the old Groups experience once the new update goes into effect. The new Groups experience offers numerous benefits for users, including a Group Home that allows users to quickly access frequently used groups and stay updated on group-related activities.
Overall, this update is aimed at enhancing the user experience for Microsoft Outlook users and providing them with a more centralized, efficient way to connect, communicate, and collaborate with their teams.
