Microsoft Outlook: “Online Archive” feature for iOS and Android

Microsoft Outlook has introduced its "Online Archive" feature for iOS and Android, enabling users to access archived emails directly from their folder list. This is a useful feature that helps manage mailbox size by storing older emails in a separate archive mailbox. Rollouts are scheduled from mid-August to late October 2024. Admins will need to enable the "Mailbox archive" in order for this feature to be available to users. The rollout of this feature will provide users with advanced archiving capabilities in the Mailbox archive, which appears alongside other mailbox folders in Outlook. It allows users to store older email messages in a specialized mailbox, freeing up space in the user's primary mailbox. Users can access the Online Archive mailbox by tapping their profile on the top left of their screen. It's necessary to note that the Online Archive folder is different from the Archive folder, which doesn't reduce mailbox size when messages are moved there. Before this rollout, users could only access their online archive emails in Outlook for iOS and Android via Search. For tenants where admins have enabled Mailbox archive for users in the Exchange admin center, users will start seeing the Online Archive folder in their mailbox. This feature will be available worldwide, rolling out from mid-August to late October 2024.

Overall, the Online Archive feature provides a much more streamlined and effective way to manage mailbox size while still having access to older emails, making the use of Outlook on iOS and Android a more pleasurable experience.
