Microsoft OneNote is introducing a new Sticky Notes app for Windows, which is built using the OneNote foundation. This new app will replace the Feed feature in OneNote on Windows and will make it easier for users to capture screenshots, add source information to notes, and more. Users can access this new app through OneNote initially, and Microsoft plans to make it available from the Windows Start menu, and by toggling from the existing Microsoft Sticky Notes app. The rollout of this new Sticky Notes app will start in mid-March 2024 and is expected to be concluded by mid-May 2024. A preview of the app will offer users the same experience as the existing Sticky Notes app, while also making note-taking more seamless. Users can try the new Sticky Notes through OneNote on Windows, but soon it will be accessible from the Windows Start menu and the existing Microsoft Sticky Notes app on Windows. This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 370039 and MC696853. As part of the rollout, Microsoft is replacing the Feed feature in the OneNote for Windows app with the new Sticky Notes app.
For users, this means that they can launch the new Sticky Notes app from the same location at the top of the screen, and they can place the lightweight app anywhere on the desktop to quickly capture notes and screenshots while browsing. This upgrade will benefit users that need a simple and quick way to jot down ideas and remember important information while working. No action is needed from users to prepare for this rollout.
