Creation of Default Notes tab in new standard channels in Teams

Microsoft Teams users will soon have a new "Notes" tab powered by OneNote added by default on the tabs bar across the top on creation of new standard channels for note-taking capabilities. This new feature will replace the current Wiki capability, which is set to retire from Teams. The release of this feature is expected to begin rolling out in late May and be complete by late June. When a new standard channel is created within a team, a new section will be created with the same name as the channel, dedicated to notetaking within that channel.

OneNote is a Microsoft 365 app for notetaking that facilitates easy collaboration across the team and allows users to view all channel notes in one place, organized within a single notebook. With rich editing features like typing, ink annotations, highlighting, file attachments, etc., and easy recall and search for channel notes within OneNote on any platform, this new "Notes" tab powered by OneNote will offer enhanced notetaking capabilities to Teams users.

All members of a team will be able to access the content captured in Notes tab across all standard channels within that team by clicking on the "Show navigation" icon on the left. If the Notes tab is accidentally removed, it can be added back by going to the channel where it was removed and selecting "Add tab."
