Microsoft 365 Backup

If you're a Microsoft 365 user, you'll be pleased to know that Microsoft is now offering a backup service that spans across OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange Online services. This service provides customers with the ability to recover their Microsoft 365 data in case of ransomware attacks or accidental data deletion/corruption, making it a critical addition to your data protection strategy.
The Microsoft 365 Backup service is available on a pay-as-you-go basis and can be enabled through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Global admins will be able to backup and restore content across all defined services (SPO/ODB/EXO), while SPO admins can backup and restore content for both SPO and ODB but not EXO, and EXO admins can backup and restore content only for EXO but not SPO and ODB.
The rollout of this service is set to begin in early January 2024 and is expected to be completed by mid-February 2024. If you wish to use the backup service, you can start by identifying the sites/accounts/mailboxes that you want to protect. Once enabled, the backup service will be available under the M365 Admin Center > Settings section. Learn more about enabling and using M365 Backup on the official website.
